FEMININITY AFTER BREAST CANCER IN WOMEN OF DIFFERENT ETHNIC GROUPS
Informed Consent
PURPOSE:
You are invited to participate in a research study about femininity and breast cancer. The goal of this research study is to investigate femininity in women who have completed breast cancer treatment.
This study is being conducted by Madison Beloff from Alliant International University (CSPP), for the completion of her dissertation. Her dissertation chair is Rhoda Olkin, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor, California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University.
PARTICIPANTS:
• Women who are 18 years old or older;
• Who completed breast cancer treatment between one and ten years ago (if still taking medications for breast cancer, that is not considered an ongoing treatment for purposes of this study);
• Who do not have any other cancer diagnoses, including recurring breast cancer.
PROCEDURES:
Participation in this study is voluntary. If you agree to participate in this study, you will be answering survey questions for about 10-15 minutes. The survey includes questions about different facets of the feminine experience, demographic information, and open-ended thoughts about the cancer and treatment process.
BENEFITS: Participating in this study may not benefit you directly.
RISKS: You may find answering some of the questions upsetting, but we expect that this would not be different from the kinds of things you discuss with family or friends. We appreciate your participation and honesty throughout this survey. However, participants may discontinue the survey at any time without further consequence/further contact from the researcher.
ANONYMOUS DATA: Your responses to the survey are completely anonymous. You may choose to withdraw from the study at any time up until you submit the data, after which I will have no way to identify which data is yours. All data will be destroyed after completion of the study. Study findings will be presented only in summary form and quotes will not be linked to any personal information.
While the investigator(s) will keep your information anonymous, there are some risks of data breaches when sending information over the internet that are beyond the control of the investigator(s).
If you have any questions about this study, please contact Madison Beloff at mbeloff@alliant.edu.
By completing this survey, you are consenting to participate in this study.
